Alegria has been recognized with the prestigious Judges Special Award of Excellence at the 2005 Gold Nugget Awards. This Project was conceived as an oasis for families in crisis. Located on 1.6 acres in Los Angeles, the Project provides transitional and permanent housing for large families affected by HIV/AIDS.

The project consists of three components: transitional housing in a licensed, highly secure Residential Care Facility for the Chronically Ill (RCFCI); permanent large family housing with supportive services; a low cost childcare center serving residents and the local community.

Fassberg is happy to announce the completion and occupancy of the Cedar St. Home project. This 2-story historic rehabilitation and reconfiguration will provide residence for 38 special needs tenants on the campus of Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk. The dormitory-style housing is supported by a commercial kitchen, counseling center and common lounge facilities. Additionally, the Project was selected as "Transitional Housing Project of the Year" by the Southern California Association of Non- Profit Housing for 2005.

The Nate Holden Performing Arts Center, on the site of the former Ebony Showcase Theatre, has opened to widespread recognition and acclaim. The center includes a 400 seat strong thrust theater with a fly-loft including support facilities, a sound stage/ rehearsal room, a restaurant and retail space. A jazz club and artist live/ work spaces are planned for the center, in its next phase.

The St. George Hotel has been recognized at The Los Angeles Conservancy's 24th Annual Preservations Awards.This Prestigious award is given to projects that help with the preservation of the Los Angeles urban landscape. Additionally the St. George has been recognized with a 2004 Gold Nugget "Merit Award" for Best Rehabilitation Project, 2004 award from SCANPH for Special Needs Project of the Year, and a 2005 "Preservation Award" from the State of California Preservation Foundation.

Built at the beginning of the 20th Century, The St. George Hotel was at the hub of a bustling Los Angeles. But as the century wore on, downtown housing was abandoned as residents left for the suburbs. Inevitably, this building became an unsupportive place and stood virtually in a state of utter desertion. The revitalization of this 88 unit, 6 story Victorian styled landmark required a complete gutting down to the floor framing and masonry support walls. Seismic structure, electrical wiring and plumbing systems were replaced to meet current code requirements. The St George has been transformed into transitional housing for special-needs tenants/ homeless through the Los Angeles Housing Department.
